Getting around the city

The public transport network is largely adapted, but the metro needs a little planning, because not every station has a lift and the lifts that exist occasionally fail.

Metro

Most major stations have lifts, but coverage is uneven on the oldest lines. Check the accessibility map on the TMB site or app before setting out, and allow a workaround station or two.

Buses

The entire fleet is low-floor with automatic ramps and a dedicated wheelchair space. For many visitors the bus is simply the more predictable option than the metro.

Adapted taxis

Barcelona licenses a fleet of adapted taxis with rear ramps. They can be hailed on the street near the hotels, but booking by phone or app is far more reliable.
