Adapted hotels
Most four- and five-star hotels in Barcelona have adapted rooms, but the standard varies enormously and the label alone tells you almost nothing about what is behind the door.
Booking directly
State the specific requirement, not just the room type: a roll-in shower, a hoist, a turning circle, a fixed grab rail. Email the hotel and get the confirmation in writing.
Location over star rating
A three-star on flat ground beside a lift-equipped metro station usually beats a five-star halfway up a hill. The Eixample and the waterfront are the safest bets.
Adapted apartments
They exist but are rarer and less consistently described. Ask for photographs of the bathroom specifically before you pay a deposit.
